Ines de Jesus, former Associate Superintendent for Human Resources for Detroit Public Schools (DPS), has been an educator, community activist and organizer in the Detroit community for over 35 years. She has numerous capacities including teacher, administrator, school leader, central office executive, and consultant to several community agencies and local universities.
Following her retirement from DPS, Ines led the implementation of the Community School model at 15 public schools as a consultant for Southwest Solutions. She continues her work with local universities and high schools to increase the number of college students going into the field of urban education with a focus on ESL and Bilingual Education.
Ines’ participation and leadership in community based organizations and boards has been instrumental in improving the educational opportunities for students and engaging families and communities across the Detroit metropolitan area. Ines received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees and an Ed Specialist in Education from Wayne State University, and Human Resource Specialist Certification from Michigan State University.
