Celebrate to promote attendance improvements

Recognize good and improved attendance on a predictable routine. Integrate recognition into regular events, newsletters, and at special family events or staff meetings to nurture enthusiasm and promote success.

Acknowledge the children’s success daily and weekly. For three and four-year-olds a month is a very long time.  Recognizing children daily with a stamp, or a button or a star virtually guarantees you will honor every child at least once every week. Recognize parents and caregivers and children’s cumulative success monthly or quarterly.

Plan special occasions throughout the year to recognize students and families who have improved attendance rates. Consider holding events just before or after holidays to encourage attendance at times when absences are typically high.
