Webinar Next Week Highlights Attendance Data
We’ve long been fans of the Data Quality Campaign and their emphasis on measuring the right data to improve schools. So we’re excited to be partnering with them to co-host a webinar next week: Using Data to Inform Policy and Practice.
The webinar, which runs from 1 to 2:30 p.m. EDT on Friday, June 22, will showcase what we are learning about the power of using data on chronic absence to understand the impact of attendance on achievement and understand what is needed to get children to school so they can learn. The webinar, moderated by Lyndsay Pinkus, National and Federal Policy Initiatives for the Data Quality Campaign, will include discussions about:
- Chronic absence and why it matters
- Efforts in Indiana, Oregon, and Oakland, CA, to analyze and use attendance data
- Actions local, state, and federal officials can take to support the improved collection and use of this information
DQC will be live tweeting the webinar using the #AttendanceData hashtag. Please join the conversation.

I am completing my dissertation on student absenteeism. As a school counselor, I am very interested in the Attendance Works initiative.
